Nicole Ravida

Senior Research Technician

Nicole Ravida is a senior research technician in the San Diego Zoo's Reproductive Physiology Division, where she has worked since 2002. She graduated from North Carolina State University with a bachelor's degree in animal science in 2000.

Ms. Ravida’s research interests include cryopreservation of gametes (sperm and oocytes) for storage in the Frozen Zoo® and for assisted reproductive technology, monitoring estrous cycles of giant pandas and sun bears through vaginal cytology, and in vitro maturation of mammalian oocytes. She designed and maintains an inventory of frozen gametes and tissue, as well as an extensive database for all gamete-related studies conducted by Reproductive Physiology.
