Volunteer

A limited number of volunteer positions are available each year with the Zoological Society of San Diego's research department, CRES. All of the options require scientific backgrounds and are usually filled by applicants with degrees in related fields.

  • Applied Animal Ecology: Participate in local fieldwork, collect data on pandas, bears, and other species.
  • Native Seed Gene Bank: Habitat monitoring, adoptive management, and seed banking.
  • Behavioral Biology: Assist with behavioral projects and record behavioral data.
  • Endocrine Unit: Help to prepare non-invasive hormone monitoring i.e., fecal, urine and serum.
  • Genetics: Perform basic laboratory procedures.
  • Wildlife Disease Laboratories: Participate in animal illness investigations using state-of-the-art biotechnology methods.
  • Reproductive Physiology: Help to collect and evaluate biological samples, data entry, and analysis.
  • Library: Help with a variety of library-related projects.
