Conservation in Action: Individuals who are currently making an active and important contribution to the conservation and recovery of endangered species, habitats, or ecosystems. Work may include applied research, breeding and reintroduction programs, community education, or the establishment of protected areas. Award includes $10,000 cash prize to further the winner's work. |

Conservation Advocate: Individuals who, through their personal efforts, written works, public presentations, promotion of the work of others, and charitable good deeds, enhanced the environment for the understanding of wildlife conservation. |

About the ZSSD Conservation Medal
The Conservation Medal is awarded annually by the Zoological Society’s Board of Trustees to people who have significantly increased knowledge of wildlife habitats;, played an active role in endangered species preservation through breeding programs, research, and the establishment of wildlife preserves; or furthered the cause of conservation through financial support, influence, or publicity.
